A bilingual custom theme for Schenk Metall
A new custom theme for the working WordPress site of a metalworking company in Bern: German and French via WPML, settings the client controls in the Customizer, clearer paths to services.
What they needed
Schenk Metall is a metalworking company in Bern, Switzerland, with roots going back to 1950. It bends, presses and rolls metal: spiral staircases, railings and custom parts for various industries. Their WordPress site worked, but its look and structure did not match the company. It serves customers in German and French.
What I built
The client wrote the copy. I built the custom theme and the WPML integration, and the site still runs my theme.
- A simple custom WordPress theme on Bootstrap that works on desktops, tablets and phones.
- Customizer settings, so the client controls several parts of the site without a developer.
- A theme fully localised for WPML, so the content can be translated from German into French.
- A new site structure that leads visitors straight to the main services: pipe bending, profile bending and sheet metal rolling.
