Booking changes and monthly maintenance for The Craftery Bar

Custom booking logic, email and calendar templates for Event Espresso, plus a monthly routine: full backup, updates, then testing forms, galleries and the shop, and fixing what broke.

What they needed

The Craftery Bar is a DIY studio with a full bar in Louisville: guests sip cocktails while they make a one-of-a-kind project. Guests book their sessions on the WordPress site, which also has contact forms, image galleries and an online shop. The booking flow had to fit how the studio works, and the site needs regular care to stay secure and working. The Craftery Bar is still my client.

Booking changes

The bookings run on the Event Espresso plugin. I changed its booking logic, its email templates and its calendar templates with custom PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

The monthly routine

  1. Take a full backup of the site, stored both on my machine and on their server, as a recovery point before anything changes.
  2. Update WordPress core, plugins and themes.
  3. Test the site after the updates: contact forms, image galleries, the shop.
  4. Fix anything the updates broke.
  5. Check that the site still loads quickly.

Why it matters

The backup comes first, so any update can be rolled back. The tests cover the parts the business depends on, so a broken update is found during maintenance, not by a customer.
